Meet Marcus and Steve

The tax practice now called Tanner and Company was originally started by Murray Scharf in 1947. Bill Tanner took over for Murray and successfully managed the practice with his brother, Steve Tanner, until January 2020. In January 2020, Bill retired, and the practice was purchased by Marcus and Adrie Bittner. Over the years, we have completed and successfully filed in excess of 100,000 tax returns. We are looking forward to continuing to provide the excellent service and personal touch that our clients expect and deserve for many years to come.

Marcus Bittner

Marcus Bittner came to Tanner and Company from ACM LLP (formerly known as Anton Collins Mitchell). He is originally from a small town in North Dakota and received his undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University. After a brief career in employee benefits consulting, he decided to pursue his tax education. He graduated with a Master’s in Accounting with a Tax Specialization. He started working for ACM (now BDO) while in graduate school and continued with ACM upon graduation in their Denver office until the opportunity to take over Bill’s thriving practice lured him away from a larger firm.

Marcus specializes in working with small business owners on their S-Corp and Partnership returns along with their individual returns. He has a broad range of business experience and looks forward to tackling all your business and personal tax needs.

Steve Tanner

Steve has been doing taxes alongside his brother Bill since 1984. Bill taught him everything he knows (and Bill would say it took about 10 minutes). Today, with Bill retired Steve continues to service his 800 clients alongside Marcus. He is now doing Tax returns for kids, grandkids and even Great Grandkids of some of Tanner and Company’s oldest clients. He rarely takes on New clients today. Now with new blood and excitement in the business, Marcus can service all those folks that you refer, and they still will get that special Tanner Tax treatment …. and of course, they all still get Cookies!
